The Pertini case
The Pertini case, born from an idea of Giovanni Di Stefano and commissioned to Giovanni D'Aquila (one of the most interesting composers of the new Italian leeve) on a libretto by Emanuela E. Abbadessa, retraces the procedural events of 1927 against Filippo Turati, Sandro Pertini, Carlo Rosselli, Ferruccio Parri, Lorenzo Dabove, Francesco Spirito, Italo Oxilia, Giacomo Oxilia and Giuseppe Boyancè.
Narrated in a play of 1965 (later made into a film for television) signed by Vico Faggi and staged at the Teatro Stabile in Genoa, the story represents an important act of "civil disobedience", the last possible to the judging college, Before the Special Court for crimes against fascism, tied their hands to ordinary justice. The role of the judge is entrusted to the voice acting of Raffaele Barca, Italian actor who was trained at the Scuola del Teatro dell'Orologio in Rome and the Recitazione School of the National Theatre of Genoa. The protagonist of the opera, to reconnect the lines of events of '27, the mezzo-soprano Manuela Custer in the shoes of Barbara Barclay Carter, the only foreign journalist who, with a subterfuge, managed to follow the proceedings together with Matteo Mezzaro, tenor and Michele Patti, Baritone. The direction will be signed by Elisabetta Courir and the scenes and costumes by Francesca Marsella.
