Traditional produce and recipes

Liguria never disappoints, particularly when it comes to food!

Traditional produce and Ligurian cuisine

The taste of Savona

Liguria is also a paradise for foodies. Ligurian cuisine has a long and rich tradition of creating unique dishes that embody the region's close bond with the land and sea: farinata (a flat bread made from chickpeas), panissa (another chickpea dish), and stockfish stew are just some of the delicious recipes that you could try for yourself in a restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean.

One of the more unique products grown around Savona is the chinotto, a citrus fruit with a unique flavour that is used to make a distinctive soft drink of the same name. Its unmistakable taste also makes it popular for liqueurs, syrups, and sorbets. Thanks to the properties of the fruit, it is also used in cosmetics, perfumes, and soaps.

The Chinotto from Savona

It’s a small citrus fruit (Citrus myrtifolia), unique in quality and flavour, growing plentifully on an evergreen tree, about 1.5 meter high.
