Savona is a city steeped in tradition, also in terms of crafts. Pottery and glass making are the two most important ones, which have been passed down through the centuries, from generation to generation.

Pottery making is a very ancient art, presumably dating all the way back to the 12th century. Its development was due to the abundance of clay in the area.

As early as in the Middle Ages, French craftsmen chose Savona and its surroundings to build their kilns and start making glass.

Today, these two crafts are kept alive in shops, museums, flea markets and educational workshops, which make Savona a heaven for all pottery and glass lovers.
