What can you expect from Savona?
- THE OLD PORT: One of the oldest parts of the city, combining tradition and modernity, and the centre of Savona’s nightlife.
- SEAFRONT: Liguria is a colourful region, with blue a constant presence along the coastline, and Savona is no exception. The beaches of Savona are ideal for playing sport, relaxing, exercising, and of coursing spending moonlit evenings with loved ones.
- BRANDALE TOWER: The oldest tower in the city, forming part of the Brandale Complex along with Palazzo degli Anziani. The tower is open every Saturday from 09:30 to 12:30.
- PRIAMAR FORTRESS: Built in 1542, this mighty fort offers a panoramic viewpoint over the city and is open every day, free of charge.
- CERAMICS MUSEUM: Four storeys of history in the heart of the city, from the Renaissance to the twentieth century, from Futurism to contemporary design.
- CIVIC ART GALLERY: In the heart of the city, featuring masterpieces from the 1300s to the twentieth century, alongside works of surrealism by Magritte and Mirò.
- SANTA MARIA ASSUNTA CATHEDRAL: Savona, also known as the “City of Popes”, has a wealth of religious heritage, including the cathedral complex and the city’s own Sistine Chapel.
- ALL ABOUT APPLE MUSEUM: Founded in 2002, it currently boasts the world's biggest collection of Apple products, containing almost every item produced by the US tech company from its humble beginnings to the present day.
- CHIABRERA THEATRE: Inaugurated in 1853 with a performance of Verdi’s Attila, Savona’s historic theatre was designed by the architect Carlo Falconieri and is named after the poet and dramatist Gabriello Chiabrera
- PALAZZO DELLA ROVERE: The name of this magnificent palace reveals its origins: it is named after its creator Giuliano della Rovere, better known as Pope Julius II, who came to Savona in 1495
- VICO CREMA: A street which is famous in Savona for panissa, one of Liguria’s best-known specialities. Panissa has become Savona’s stand-out street food, little chickpea fritters usually eaten in a panino as a snack or a light meal.
- MADONNA DEGLI ANGELI CHURCH: Just outside the city centre, a church standing high on the hill overlooking the ocean with breathtaking views.
- LEON PANCALDO TOWER: A symbol of the city of Savona, the “little tower” is a Mediaeval building that stands 23 metres high and 6 metres wide.
