Archaeological, Civic and City Museum
Through a joint tour of the civic museum and the archaeological site visitors can travel back in time.
The journey starts on the ground floor, where evocative archaeological remains are fully visible: part of a Byzantine necropolis, some early medieval settlements and a large exhibition section with protohistoric, classical and early medieval finds.
It continues on the first floor, with the history of the city traced through archaeological finds and historic and artistic remains from the Middle Ages and the early modern period.
Ceramics discovered over the course of years of research is the fil rouge of the history of Savona. The museum hosts a scientific library specializing in medieval archaeology, ceramology, history, local art and culture.
