Historical Gallery Istituto Nautico Leon Pancaldo

The exhibition is housed in the historical Istituto, located in Piazza Cavallotti and currently home to the Liceo Classico. It is divided into several sections: a gallery with the portraits of the students who graduated over the course of the long history of the school, historical photos of the port of Savona in the early 1900s, period model ships, physics and electrical engineering lab equipment and apparatus, on-board equipment and instruments, fully functional model engines, model marine engines, technical drawings made by students in the 1950s and 1960s, a reading and study room that houses ancient books, a fully functional weather station with 19th century instruments and equipment, and a big historic planetarium – one of the few still working in Italy.
